Coastal areas in El Salvador face a constant challenge: waste accumulates faster than communities can remove it, impacting marine life, public health, and the beauty of shared spaces.
At the same time, many families are dealing with a different kind of emergency - having a child hospitalized, while lacking the resources to afford food, rest, and basic stability.
That’s why, we are launching a social good initiative
Valor: Run for Change to bring these realities together into one meaningful action.
The social good activity, Task4Good, is structured around two main activities:
•
Playa El Cocal in El Salvador - Beach clean-up
• Aid donation to the recipient charity
Albergue Adventista. The volunteers are young entrepreneurs from San Salvador who typically spend most of their day seated and working at a desk. To make the initiative both meaningful and healthy, they will combine a beach run with a cleanup, moving along the coastline while collecting waste.
During the activity:
• Participants run along the beach.
• While running, they collect waste using provided bags and gloves.
• At the end of the activity, all collected bags are weighed.
• The participant with the heaviest bag is recognized and rewarded, with the raised funds distributed to the winner’s NAKA+ Visa Platinum Card.
• The winner then purchases essential items for Albergue Adventista, based on the official needs list provided by the shelter. Other volunteers are welcome to join, as the donation will be heavy and requires support.
Aid Recipient: Albergue Adventista Our fundraising supports Albergue Adventista, a shelter that provides rest, safety, and support to parents of children admitted to Hospital Bloom in San Salvador. See video here The shelter helps families in vulnerable situations by offering services such as:
• Sleeping areas (dormitories)
• Personal hygiene spaces
• Recreational areas and a children’s play classroom
• A prayer chapel and emotional support environment
Beneficiaries are identified through a formal collaboration with Hospital Bloom, where the hospital social work unit refers to families who have limited resources and need immediate support.
Albergue Adventista operates through community support and donations, helping families access something incredibly basic, but often unavailable during a medical crisis: a dignified place to rest, eat, clean up, and recover strength while staying close to their children.
