About Project
Kiota Kids is a registered Community Based Organization located in Meru County, Kenya. Our centre began in October 2023 with an aim of rescuing boys and girls off the street. We currently have 60 children who have found family in the heart of Kaungu Village. These children come from extreme circumstances of poverty where most people are unable to get their basic human needs of food, water, shelter or safety. Many children are orphans, abandoned and left on the streets by their parents or face abuse so severe at home they are forced to run away to the streets. Most of these kids at the center are tragically victims of rape, severely malnourished, and deeply traumatized.
At the center we aspire to provide every child with a safe space to express themselves and grow, a bed to rest, 3 warm meals a day, medical care, and adequate clothing. In addition, we are determined to give every child access to an education. We have children in primary, secondary and vocational training schools. We know that every child holds infinite potential, but many are denied the opportunities to reach their dreams. Knowledge is power, and access to education is the key to unlocking a child's possibilities in building their own bright future. Every child has the right to learn and a place to call home.
Our goal is to support each child in becoming a successful student, both inside and outside the classroom, while setting them up with the skills and connections for independence in transitioning out of the centre.
Our Care Continuity Project encompasses all the funds necessary to keep this centre running and thriving including the following categories:
• School Fees
• Food
• Medical Care
• Water Supply
• Salaries for our 4 local Kiota Kids Care Takers
We are eager and excited to share updates, progress and pictures with everyone supporting our children!
